TRANSITION FROM AIRCRAFT TO SPACECRAFT
X-15: Photo Signed by Seven Test Pilots including Neil
Armstrong. A 10" x 8" B&W glossy photo of the X-15 as it
lands, been signed neatly along the top in black felt tips by seven
of the twelve X-15 pilots: "William J. Knight", "Milt
Thompson", "Bob White", "Neil Armstrong", "Joe
Engle", "Scott Crossfield", and "Bill Dana". The
X-15 rocket-power aircraft set numerous speed and altitude records
in the early 1960s, reaching the edge of space and bringing back
valuable data for use in developing later aircraft and spacecraft.
The pilots who flew these aircraft higher than fifty miles were
awarded astronaut status by the USAF and received NASA astronaut
wings for their high-altitude flights. A very desirable piece,
perfect for framing. Very fine.
