    Description

X-15: 1960 Handwritten Letter to Neil Armstrong from Honeywell's Jim (A. J.) Bailey with a Large Annotated "Adaptive Controller" Diagram Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, Certified and Encapsulated by Collectibles Authentication Guaranty. A three page letter on 8.5" x 11" lined paper dated July 12, 1960, with a subject header of "X-15 Function Selector". It begins: "I am sending you a sketch of the function selector we discussed together at your facility a few weeks ago. 1). The sketch is double size. 2). The terminology has been simplified and I feel that as shown on the sketch it is straight forward and not confusing...". A very detailed and technical discussion follows bringing Armstrong up to speed on the progress of the project. The diagram is 12.5" x 17" and shows several handwritten notes and corrections. A great piece of aviation history. Fine. Each page sealed in a numbered archival sleeve. This lot will include Statements of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
