Signed by Neil Armstrong, Jimmy Doolittle, Curtis LeMay, Chuck Yeager, Paul Tibbets, Pete Knight, and nine other legends of aviation embracing World War I through the moon landing

William J. Reynolds 1982 Limited Edition "Great Moments In Aviation History" (Gathering of Eagles) Print, the First and Most Important in the Series, #254/1100, with Original Booklet, in Framed Display. A 25" x 23" (sight size) lithograph depicting the earth, the moon, and various aircraft representing the aviators that have signed this print in pencil at the lower margin (listed in alphabetical order): Armstrong, Neil A. (Apollo XI); Doolittle, James H. "Jimmy" (Curtiss R3C2 Seaplane); Foss, Joseph J. (Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat); Gabreski, Francis S. "Gabby" (North American F-86E Sabre); Gay, George (TBD-1 Devastator); Halvorsen, Gail S. (Douglas C-54 Skymaster); Knight, William J. "Pete" (North American X-15A-2); LeMay, Curtis E. (Boeing Y1B-17 Flying Fortress); Mitchell, John W. (Lockheed P-38 Lightning); Novosel, Michael J. Sr "Mike" (Bell UH-1H Huey); Olds, Robin (McDonnell Douglas F-4C Phantom II); Tibbets, Paul W. (B-47); Vaughn, George A. Jr. (F.1 Sopwith Camel); Wade, Leigh (Douglas Dw-4 World Cruiser); and Yeager, Charles E. "Chuck" (North American P-51D Mustang).

The Gathering of Eagles is a yearly event at the Air Command and Staff College. The first official GOE was held in 1982 when the above fifteen aviators were invited to share their personal experiences through teaching interviews and social events with members of the class. Certainly a diverse group of signatures that should appeal to collectors of Space, Aviation, and Militaria. Beautifully double matted and framed to an overall 31.5" x 29.5". The 5.5" x 8.5" booklet with biographical information on each is included. A rare opportunity to obtain this rare print, the first we've offered. Wear to frame. Excellent.

"The Gathering of Eagles Foundation mission is to promote the study of aviation history by honoring the accomplishments of Airpower pioneers. GOE is the capstone event in the Air Command and Staff College (ACSC) curriculum. The program traces its roots to 1980, when ACSC invited retired Brigadier General Paul W. Tibbets to visit Maxwell AFB, Alabama, to share his flying experiences with ACSC students. Since 1982, over 450 Eagles have recognized." (

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
