Vintage Rocketdyne Apollo Saturn H-1 Rocket Engine Gas Generator Signed by Henry Pohl on Custom Display Base. An outstanding piece of Apollo Saturn hardware bearing the signature of engineer Henry Pohl. The generator measures 20" x 12" x 15.5" when attached to custom base. It bears two Rocketdyne labels one of which has the following: "MM G. G. Control Valve/ Part No. 307060/ Rating 560" among other info. There are also various applied numbers and stamps throughout. These gas generators where a crucial component of the H-1 engine, and Pohl actually designed the valving that was used. Having his signature on this piece that he was so integral in developing is a rarity. Pohl began his work on rockets in the 1950's alongside Wernher von Braun. He has applied his signature along the side of the generator in white paint pen: "Henry O. Pohl". Has signs commensurate with age, an amazing display piece. Fine.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
