    Pilot-Cosmonaut of the U.S.S.R.

Valeri Kubasov's Soviet Flight Certificate, Essentially an International Passport. A 3" x 4.25" leatherette covered four-page booklet titled in gilt on the cover: "СВИДЕТЕЛЬСТВО/ ЛЕТЧИКА - КОСМОНАВТА/ СССР" (Flight Certificate Soviet Cosmonaut). This would have been his official government identification should his spacecraft land outside of the Soviet Union. The inside pages contain an early B&W photo of Kubasov with his signature below and the following text: "The Federation of Aviation Sports of the U.S.S.R., member of the International Aviation Federation, acknowledged as its plenipotentiary representative in the U.S.S.R., certifies herewith that Kubasov Valery Nikolajevitch, a citizen of the U.S.S.R., born on January 7, 1935 in the U.S.S.R., has the title of,, Pilot - Cosmonaut of the U.S.S.R." The inside back pages has a paragraph in six languages, English as follows: "The Civil, Naval and Military Authorities, including the Police, are respectfully requested to aid and assist the holder of this certificate." An extremely rare and important document from this member of the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project crew (as well as Soyuz 6 and Soyuz 36). Very fine.
