    International space rescue treaty.

    United Nations Space Rescue Agreement Signed by Rusk, Dean, and Dobrynin. "Agreement on the Rescue of Astronauts, the Return of Astronauts and the Return of Objects Launched into Outer Space" as entered into force by the United Nations in December 1968, 16.5" x 10.5", printed on parchment-like paper. This document is signed both in print and authentically by Dean Rusk (1909-1994) for the United States, Patrick Dean (1909-1994) for Great Britain, and Anatoly Dobrynin (1919-2010) for the Soviet Union. A se tenant pair of U.S. 8ยข stamps picturing the Lunar Module and Lunar Rover (Scott #1434-35) is affixed just beneath the last Article and First Day cancelled at Kennedy Space Center, August 2, 1971. As of this writing, twenty-four states have signed this agreement with ninety-two states and organizations declaring their acceptance. Very fine condition with a pinhead-size stain at far left, mentioned for accuracy.

    "The Agreement, elaborating on elements of articles 5 and 8 of the Outer Space Treaty, provides that States shall take all possible steps to rescue and assist astronauts in distress and promptly return them to the launching State, and that States shall, upon request, provide assistance to launching States in recovering space objects that return to Earth outside the territory of the Launching State."
