Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-26) Flown Crew Patch on Large Crew-Signed Photo Montage. A 4.125" diameter embroidered mission insignia patch attached to a 20" x 16" montage of mission-related color photos mounted on a board. The onboard crew photo is signed by all five: "Dave Hilmers", "Pinky Nelson", "Rick Hauck", "Dick Covey", and "Mike Lounge". A label attached at top reads: "Presented to Pat Patnesky With thanks for your contribution to making STS-26 a success." A label at bottom reads: "This crew patch was flown aboard the Orbiter Discovery, STS-26, September 29-October 3, 1988, symbolizing our Nation's 'Return to Flight'." This was a very important mission, the first since the Challenger disaster on January 28, 1986. Rarely offered. Very fine. From the personal collection of longtime NASA photojournalist Andrew "Pat" Patnesky.
