DescriptionSpace Shuttle Columbia (STS-35) Flown and Worn Crew Shirt Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Vance Brand. This 100% cotton, men's size "L", light blue Land's End shirt has "STS-35" embroidered over the left breast in dark blue. It was worn by Brand during his fourth and final space mission; he was fifty-nine at launch, the oldest astronaut to fly into space at that time. The mission's primary goal was the deployment of the four-telescope "ASTRO-1" observatory; the flight took place December 2-10, 1990, shortened by one day because of impending bad weather. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Kevin Brand, son of astronaut Vance Brand; it reads: "I, Kevin S. Brand, was given this Flown STS-35 mission crew shirt by my father Vance D. Brand. I asked if it flew in space. He said it did. I was very excited to be given something, by my father, that he used during his mission."
