Commander's mission insignia patch worn on the third Space Shuttle missionSpace Shuttle Columbia (STS-3) Flown Patch Worn by Mission Commander Jack Lousma, Originally from his Personal Collection, Signed and Certified, in Framed Display. Offered here is a 4.125" diameter embroidered mission insignia from this important early shuttle mission, March 22-30, 1982. It is mounted on a sheet reading: "Man-Systems Division/ Presents To:/ Jack Lousma/ Commander/ This original patch worn/ During your STS-3 mission" and is signed in black ink: "My patch worn/ in flight on STS-3./ Jack Lousma". Matted and framed to an overall 14.25" x 12.25". During their time in orbit, Commander Lousma and Pilot Gordon Fullerton exposed the shuttle to extreme thermal stress, tested the Canadarm Remote Manipulator System, a fifty-foot-long robot arm, and conducted numerous scientific experiments. Poor weather at Edwards Air Force Base in California forced Lousma to land the shuttle at White Sands, New Mexico, the first and only landing there. A very desirable display piece. Included is an 8.5" x 11" color glossy reprint photo of Lousma aboard STS-3 wearing a patch like this one. Frame a bit scratched, otherwise excellent.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
