    Description

Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-3) Flown Orbit Ops Checklist Book Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Jack Lousma, Signed and Certified, with Signed LOA. A sixty+ page checklist book printed on 8" x 6" tabbed cardstock, three-hole punched, and held together with three binder rings. There are ten tabbed sections. We note numerous handwritten annotations throughout the checklist. On the front cover is the STS-3 mission insignia with a red line at the right edge. It is signed at the left side: "This 'Orbit Ops/ Checklist' flew/ with me on STS-3./ March 22-30, 1982/ Jack Lousma/ CDR STS-3". Very fine condition.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on his letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify the STS-3 (Columbia) Orbit Ops Checklist that accompanies this letter was flown in space and used by the crew aboard the STS 3 mission during March 22-30, 1982. The Orbit Ops Checklist is comprised of detailed procedures for 'nominal' operations of several Space Shuttle systems specifically during the on-orbit phase of the mission. The systems covered include, among others, electrical, environmental control & life support, guidance, navigation & control, data processing, communications, instrumentation, hydraulics, reaction control jets, and orbital maneuvering rockets. This checklist differs from the 'Orbit Pocket C/L', which is a compilation of "contingency" procedures used to trouble-shoot malfunctions occurring during the on-orbit phase of flight. This STS 3 Orbit Ops Checklist has been in my possession since the mission in 1982."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
