DescriptionSpace Shuttle Columbia (STS-28) Unflown Silver Robbins Medallion Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Charlie Duke, Serial Number 104. This 35mm sterling silver medal is in its original issue plastic box. This medallion, though not flown, was one of only 123 minted to commemorate the August 8-13, 1989, flight of the Columbia, a classified mission for the Department of Defense. The obverse depicts the orbiter and a bald eagle flying over the Earth; the reverse includes the engraved mission dates. The surnames of crewmembers James C. Adamson, David C. Leestma, Mark N. Brown, Brewster H. Shaw, Jr., and Richard N. Richards are featured on both sides. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Charles M. Duke, Jr. on his personal letterhead.
