DescriptionSpace Shuttle Atlantis (STS-34) Unflown Silver Robbins Medallion Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Charlie Duke, Serial Number 106. This 35mm sterling silver medal is in its original issue plastic box. This medallion, though not flown, was one of only 129 minted to commemorate the October 18-23, 1989, flight of the Atlantis, a mission to deploy the Galileo probe bound for Jupiter. The obverse depicts the orbiter with the Earth below and Jupiter in the distance; the reverse includes the engraved mission dates. The surnames of crewmembers Shannon W. Lucid, Donald E. Williams, Michael J. McCulley, Ellen S. Baker, and Franklin R. Chang-Diaz on featured on both sides. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Charles M. Duke, Jr. on his personal letterhead.
