Soviet Vostok Program: Large Section of Parachute Attributed to Korabl-Sputnik 5. An 84" x 20" uneven piece of material purported to be part of the reentry parachute for this flight that took place in March 1961, the last test before Yuri Gagarin's historic mission. No written provenance available but it was obtained in Moscow with a credible story; various pieces of this craft were auctioned in the 1990s at Sotheby's. It has been carefully compared to similar Vostok parachutes in the Moscow Museum of Cosmonautics. Well worn, folds, ragged, very good.
