Description

    This medal travelled nearly twenty-five million miles during its fifty-nine days in space

    Skylab II (SL-3) Flown Silver Robbins Medallion, Serial Number 039F, Originally from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Jack Swigert, with LOA. This 35mm sterling silver medal is one of only fifty-five flown (of 159 minted) aboard Skylab II, July 28-September 25, 1973, with crewmembers Alan Bean, Jack Lousma, and Owen Garriott. The obverse features the mission insignia depicting Leonardo da Vinci's famous "Vitruvian Man" hovering above a half-Earth/ half-Sun disk with the surnames of the crewmembers above and "Skylab II" below. The reverse depicts the Skylab station with the mission dates engraved. The serial number is on the rim along with the sterling and Robbins hallmarks. An original Robbins case is included. Excellent.

    Included with this lot is a Letter of Authenticity signed by Jack Swigert's sister, Virginia Swigert, certifying "that this Skylab II Robbins Medal Flown, Serial Number 39 is from Jack Swigert's personal collection" and that it comes directly from his estate.
