    Description

Skylab II (SL-3) Flown Command Module Rotational Controller Handle Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot Jack Lousma, with Signed LOA. A milled aluminum handle, approximately 4.5" tall with a black "trigger" and indented finger grips. It is custom mounted to a 4.875" x 7.875" x 1" walnut base with an engraved plate above reading: "Skylab III/ July 25 [sic], 1973 - Sept. 25, 1973" and one below reading: "Rotational/ Hand Controller". This was mounted in CSM-117 and used for manual control of the spacecraft across any of the three axes- pitch, roll, and yaw. It was removed after the successful mission and presented to Lousma. An extremely rare and desirable piece of flown Skylab hardware, seldom offered. Excellent.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification on his letterhead stating, in full: "This Rotational Hand Controller (RHC) was one of two RHC's installed in the Skylab II Command and Service Module (CSM) to fire the reaction control thrusters for maneuvering the spacecraft about its roll, pitch, and yaw axes. The trigger on the RHC could be depressed for communications with the Mission Control Center. It was presented to me after completion of the postflight inspection of the Skylab II Command Module in 1973. I hereby certify this RHC is from my personal collection and has been in my possession since the Skylab II mission."
