Spacesuit emblems worn during eleven hours of spacewalking

Skylab II (SL-3) Flown and Worn Spacesuit Flag, Mission Insignia, NASA Logo, and Nametag in Framed Display Directly from Jack Lousma's Personal Collection, with Signed Photo and LOA. A 6" x 4" American flag, a 3.5" square mission insignia, a 3" x 3.5" NASA meatball logo, and a 3.75" x 1" "LOUSMA" nametag, all made of Beta cloth, matted and framed to an overall 15.5" x 12.5" with a brass plaque: "Presented by Crew Systems Division". As explained in the text of the LOA seen below, these were on the spacesuit he wore during launch, de-orbit, and throughout both spacewalks totaling eleven+ hours, on the Skylab II mission which covered more than twenty-four million miles. After the flight, as per custom, they were removed from his spacesuit and given to him. An incredible piece of history, just as NASA presented it to Colonel Lousma after the mission. All are lightly worn and soiled as expected, overall very fine.

There is a very famous NASA photo taken August 6, 1973, of Jack Lousma during his first Skylab EVA. It was taken by Alan Bean out the window; the blue planet earth is clearly visible (along with the Apollo Telescope Mount) in his visor. An 8" x 10" color print of that photo is attached to the back of the frame; on it Lousma has written: "'The whole Good Earth'/ in one small visor.'/ Spacewalk, Skylab II/ July 28 - Sept 25, 1973/ The three framed emblems/ are the exact same emblems/ seen on this spacesuit./ Jack Lousma/ Pilot, Skylab II/ Photograph by Alan/ Bean through space-/ craft window."

Also included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification on his letterhead stating, in full: "This framed United States flag, Skylab II emblem, and Lousma nametag were worn on my spacesuit during launch, spacewalk, and deorbit phases of the Skylab II mission during July 28-September 25, 1973. The two spacewalks totaled about 11.5 hours during which, among other more menial tasks, the Twin-Pole Sunshade was deployed over Skylab's Orbital Work Shop, a 27-foot, Y-shaped electrical cable was connected externally to activate six replacement gyros, and replacement cameras and film were installed in the solar telescopes. The three emblems are the same ones depicted in the "World In the Visor" spacewalk photograph affixed to the back of the frame. They were removed from my spacesuit after the mission by the Crew Systems Division of the Johnson Space Center and presented to me as framed. I hereby certify the three spacesuit emblems as framed are from my personal collection and have been in my possession since the Skylab II mission."
