A pair of soft two-toned flameproof gloves worn by Lousma throughout the fifty-nine day mission inside the space station. Each glove has a NASA cloth identification tag sewn inside the wrist area with defacing red felt tip marks, reading as follows:
    "GLOVE ASSY, LEFT / RIGHT

    S/N: 1069
    SIZE: 10
    CREWMAN: LOUSMA
    CONTRACT NO: NAS9-8309
    DATE OF MFG: 4-19-72
MFG BY: WELSON & CO. INC"
This is the first pair of these that we have seen. Don't miss this opportunity. Very fine showing wear from normal use.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Certification on his letterhead stating, in full: "This pair of gloves was worn by me on the Skylab II mission during July 28-September 25, 1973. These gloves were worn inside the Skylab Space Station and used primarily for hand protection during spacecraft maintenance rather than for warmth. They complemented a full uniform of interior-worn clothing including a jacket, trousers, pullover shirt, and slippers. The fabric is an early version of flameproof material in its natural color. Such items of clothing with more appealing colors were produced later when dyes compatible with flameproof fabrics became available. I hereby certify these gloves are from my personal collection and have been in my possession since the Skylab II mission."
