    Original Robert McCall artwork.

Robert T. McCall: Four Beautifully Hand-Painted and Signed Large First Day Covers, Originally from His Personal Collection. Gorgeous space-themed watercolors, one each signed by Scott Crossfield (1921-2006). Buzz Aldrin, and John Young, as follows: (1) A large #10 cacheted First Day Cover bearing the complete block of eight "Space Achievement" stamps (Scott #1912-1919) as designed by McCall, cancelled May 21, 1981. McCall has painted a lunar module-type craft lifting off from a barren lunar landscape and has signed in full under the stamps: "Robert T. McCall", and also "McCall/11-21/02" in the painting at lower right; (2) On the same type cover as above, McCall has painted an X-15 soaring high in the atmosphere. He has signed in full at lower left beneath the cachet and it is signed: "Scott Crossfield/ X-15" beneath the stamp block. Crossfield was a legendary test pilot; (3) Another of the same style cover features a painting of a space-suited astronaut planting a flag on the moon's surface. It is signed in full by McCall at lower left and signed by the second man on the moon: "Buzz Aldrin" next to the astronaut's image; and (4) Another of this same FDC, which was issued just a few weeks after the successful first flight of the Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-1). This painting is of that craft's landing and it is signed by the mission commander: "John Young" as well as in full by McCall. All four of these unique and displayable pieces of space art are in excellent condition.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
