DescriptionNERVA Nuclear Rocket Engine Contractor's Model. A magnificent metal model, 10.5" tall on a 5" wooden base with an engraved brass plate, "NERVA". This project, Nuclear Engine for Rocket Vehicle Application, was a cooperative effort between NASA and the Atomic Energy Commission to develop a nuclear thermal propulsion rocket that would be viable for space exploration, particularly a manned journey to Mars. Developed by the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratories, Westinghouse, Aerojet, and others, it was actually a highly-successful project. Despite backing by von Braun and others for a Mars mission using Nerva, it lost out in the space funding cuts of the 1970s. Interesting to wonder what might have been. Extremely rare, only a handful of these were ever made. Fine condition.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
