    Description

Neil Armstrong's 1952 Olds 88: 1951-Dated Carbon Copy Sales Order from Niswonger Chevrolet in Wapakoneta, Directly from His Brother's Collection. Dated December 22, 1951, for delivery on or about March 1952, this 6.5" x 7.5" sales order totaling $2599.28 is signed "Neil Armstrong per S. K. Armstrong" and lists the details of the car (same model as his father's) Neil purchased in anticipation of his return to the United States from his tour in Korea in March 1952 and his later release from active duty. His brother Dean drove the new Cascade Green & Black Oldsmobile Olds 88 Holiday Hardtop Coupe to California to meet Neil and "[t]he brothers took the new Olds sightseeing from Mexico to Canada before heading home. They visited ten national parks, mostly camping out, and hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon." (Hansen, James R, First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong, p. 122). A great piece of history that should appeal to Space and Vintage Auto collectors alike. Two folds, very fine. A Certificate of Authenticity from Neil's brother Dean Armstrong will accompany this lot.
