An unflown thrust chamber assembly measuring 11" x 4.75" x 3.25". The chamber bears the following printed numbers: "208129/ 02602-04989" (part number). "N4097959" (serial number), and several NASA inspection stamps. The original red rubber nozzle cover is present with a label dated May 22, 1969, along with the desiccant pack, a rubber cover for the chamber, and the original NASA packaging with a label: "Do Not Open Until Ready For Use. Sixteen of these thrusters were mounted in the nose section of each Gemini space capsule for maneuvering and control of spacecraft attitude during reentry. These thrusters, though meant to be used only for reentry, came in very handy on Gemini 8 when an Orbit Attitude and Maneuver System (OAMS) thruster got stuck in the open position, causing the space capsule to spin dangerously out of control. Neil Armstrong fired the RCS thrusters to regain enough command of the spacecraft to make an emergency landing only ten hours into the mission.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.View More Testimonials
