NASA Original Window Segment from Firing Room 1, which Controlled the Launches of Apollo 11, STS-1, and Others, on Presentation Plaque. A 2" x 2" x 0.625" (five panes thickness) section of glass mounted on a 9" x 12" x 1" wooden plaque with an engraved metal plate that reads: "This Piece Of An Original/ Firing Room 1 Window Is/ Presented To/ Ollie Wall/ In Grateful Recognition/ For Your Dedication and/ Team Spirit As A/ Member Of The/ Shuttle Launch Team/ Al Sofge, Shuttle Test Director/ Mike Leinbach, Shuttle Test Director". Firing Room 1 was the first firing room to support a mission launch of the Apollo era, with the unmanned Apollo 4, as well as the manned Apollos 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, 16, and 17. It also supported the launch of the first Shuttle mission STS-1 with John Young and Bob Crippen aboard. The room was re-named the "Young-Crippen Firing Room" in 2006, when it was refit to support the Ares Program. Some scratches on the plate, fine.
