    NASA/ Mercury/ Gemini Archive of Rare Photos, Internal Memos, Autographs, and Launch Passes from the Collection of McDonnell's Robert McLean. Includes a fabulous collection of approximately twenty-eight 8" x 10" glossy NASA / Air Force photos, all captioned on verso, B&W unless noted. Highlights as follows.
    MR-1: One pre-launch USAF photo taken November 21, 1960. This was the "four-inch" flight.
    MR-1A: Three sequential launch photos taken December 19, 1960. This was the successful spacecraft qualification flight.
    MR-2: One launch (color), one helicopter rescue, and one post-flight portrait of a hungry chimp named Ham, all taken January 31, 1961.
    First Flight Candidates: NASA photo S-61-239 of Shepard, Grissom, and Glenn and NASA photo S-61-1878 of Glenn, all in silver spacesuits.
    MR-3: Three sequential launch photos (one color) and two of rescue on deck of U.S.S. Lake Champlain, all taken May 5, 1961.
    MR-4: Four photos of Gus Grissom examining his capsule, taken May 25, 1961.
    MA-6: Launch photo from General Dynamics.
    MA-9: Color launch photo taken May 15, 1963.
    All of these photos are individually sleeved. Very fine.
    Autographs: As follows. (1) A McDonnell Aircraft cocktail party invitation celebrating "The First Successful United States Manned Space Flight" on May 5, 1961, signed: "Best wishes - John H Glenn Jr", "Ol' Mac/ 5 May 61" (James S. McDonnell, founder), and several others, front and back. (2) Color 8" x 10" NASA litho print of Shepard on the Lake Champlain, signed: "To Bob McClean/ with many thanks for/ your help this day/ Alan B Shepard Jr/ 5-5-61". (3) Color 8" x 10" NASA litho print, signed: "To Bob McLean/ with gratitude for all/ the help on MA-7/ Scott Carpenter". (4) Color 8" x 10" NASA litho print, signed: "To Bob McLean/ with best regards/ Gordon Cooper". Very fine.
    Launch Passes: NASA-LOD Mercury MR-4 (rare), GLV-6, SSLV 9 (Titan IIIC). All have "Property of the United States Government" warnings on their versos. Very fine.
    Also, a selection of clippings, internal memos, litho photos, and launch schedule charts. A great grouping, generally fine.
