Description

Michael Collins Signed Apollo 11 Beta Cloth in Original Roma Chemical Envelope. A 9" square swatch of Beta cloth with a 3.375" diameter mission insignia printed in the center. It is signed beneath: "Michael Collins Apollo XI/ July 20, 1969". Interestingly, it was Michael Collins who designed the insignia for this flight. It was the only one of the Apollo program without the crew's names incorporated into the design, signifying that the mission was on behalf of all mankind. The cloth is stapled to a piece of 8.25" x 11.5" cardstock with a flap on top that reads: "Apollo 11 Insignia/ Courtesy of/ Roma Chemical - - Division - United Merchants & Mfgrs., Inc./ Fall River, Massachusetts/ Printed with/ Roma Questral Space Age Pigments/ on/ Owens Corning Beta Fiberglas". This is enclosed in the original clear window 9" x 12" envelope. A very scarce and desirable original insignia from this landmark mission. Beta cloth is pristine.
