    Mercury-Redstone 3 (Freedom 7): Flown Piece of Capsule Descent Parachute on Display Certificate. A 0.625" square piece of parachute material captioned: "This is a piece of the Freedom 7 parachute recovered by the USS Lake Champlain" and mounted onto an 8" x 11.5" card picturing Alan Shepard's Mercury-Redstone 3 rocket on the pad before liftoff. Excellent condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.

    Included with this lot is a Letter of Authenticity from Spaceflori signed by Florian Noller stating, in full: "Enclosed you'll find the Shepard MR-3 FLOWN chute piece mounted on a display card along with a copy of my original letter I got from Hal French relating to the piece [also included]. I certify that I personally cut the piece into sections and made a series of 25 displays. Your item is marked #22/35. Please keep this letter at all times along with the described item."
