One of three $1 bills hidden in a fake capacitor board

Mercury-Atlas 8 (Sigma 7) Flown "Hidden" One Dollar Silver Certificate Signed by Wally Schirra, in Framed Display. A Series 1957A $1 bill, serial number H36497499A, signed at lower right: "Wally Schirra". It is matted and framed to an overall 19.5" x 17.5" with four photos of its secret hiding place aboard Schirra's October 3, 1962, six-orbit flight in Sigma 7. Three such dollars were placed inside capacitors on a circuit board and retrieved after the mission. This example was given to Charles D. "Chuck" Clary, a longtime NASA employee who was heavily involved in the Mercury program. The first of these we've encountered- an incredible rarity with appeal to both Space and Currency collectors. The dollar exhibits wear that, based on these period photos, dates from its trip into space, overall very good.
