Mercury-Atlas 6 (Friendship 7) Original Ground Control Data Strip Recording of John Glenn's EKG. Quite an interesting and historic item. A 12.75" x 16" section of continuous-feed graph paper showing data readings of eight different parameters as taken during the end of Glenn's third earth orbit, shortly before re-entry. Personal readings showing Glenn's physical condition are: Breathing, EKG, and Body Temperature. Readings showing the spacecraft's condition are: "Retro Attitude, Retro Firing, Retro Jettison, Retro Rocket Temperature, and Impact Deployment. Handwritten period notes along the top read: "Tracked over Florida J Glenn end of 3d orbit - Feb 20, 1962..." Parameters are named in ink along the right side. A great and unique period relic from America's first orbital space mission. Paper is carbon-backed and there are numerous extraneous marks and a small piece is torn off but present, good overall.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
