Description

Houston Mission Control Center Collection of Original 1967 and 1968-Dated NASA Photos Including Nine with "Red Numbers." Fourteen 10" x 8" color (twelve, nine are original "red number" glossies) and B&W (two) photos (with just a few duplicates). Various scenes taken in the operations and recovery rooms during the early unmanned and manned Apollo flights. Most of the personnel shown are mission control workers, flight directors, and executives. Wally Schirra is pictured in two photos. The coolest one, in your cataloguer's humble opinion, is a B&W photo of the moon looking down over Mission Control Center the evening of December 24, 1968, at exactly the same time the Apollo 8 astronauts were making their famous live telecast (top left image). Most are three-hole punched, some have printed press captions on the verso. Generally excellent. From the personal collection of longtime NASA photojournalist Andrew "Pat" Patnesky.
