Description

Gus Grissom 1944 "Gold and Blue" High School Yearbook, also with Future Wife Betty Moore, Unsigned. A nice, clean copy of Mitchell (Indiana) High School's annual from Grissom's senior year. He is pictured on page eight with the following printed information: "Virgil Grissom 'Greasy'/ Example of how a Senior can become attached to a Junior girl./ Hi-Y, Signal, Camera". That junior girl that he was "attached to" was Betty Moore, found on page thirteen, his future wife. Grissom's younger sister is also pictured on page fourteen among the sophomores. It is mentioned in the opening that sixteen of the school's male students had joined the service but Grissom did wait until he graduated before enlisting. We feel fairly certain that he preferred his later nickname "Gus" over "Greasy." Blue blindstamped covers, 8" x 10.75", front cover just slightly warped, normal wear, fine overall.
