    Gemini 9A Flown Launch Abort Checklist Signed by and from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot Gene Cernan, containing Retrofire and Re-Entry procedures. A forty-one-page checklist printed on cardstock with heavyweight card covers, 3.25" x 8" in size, and bound together with two binder rings. The top front cover contains the following data: "CF 55047- 6", "S/N 10", and "SET A". The front and back covers each have two strips of Velcro for attachment to the surfaces of the capsule. Captain Cernan has certified and signed the front cover: "Flown on Gemini IX Gene Cernan". There are several written notations and highlighted passages internally which is divided by tabs into five sections: "Insertion", "Pre Retro", "Post Retro", "Post Main", and "Emergency" (handwritten). An amazing and historical piece of U.S. space history. Complete checklists are rarely offered. Very fine condition.

    One particularly interesting point in the "Contingency Water Egress Checklist" section says to "Inflate 'Mae West'". The "Mae West" was a personal flotation device that refers to the famous (and buxom) movie star of early Hollywood. WWII aviators coined the term originally because pilots who wore the inflated life jacket tended to have quite an hourglass-like shape, not unlike the curvaceous Miss West.
