DescriptionGemini 9A Flown Gold-Plated Silver Fliteline Medallion with Loop added, with Signed LOA from Mission Pilot Gene Cernan. This 25mm x 19mm shield-shaped sterling silver medal has the mission insignia on the front. The reverse features the surnames of the crew, the engraved dates of the mission, "June 3-6 1966", and the "Sterling" hallmark. A small hole has been drilled at top with an added loop for wearing with a necklace chain. Some wear to the plating on back, overall very fine. From the collection of Dolores A. Riley, sister of Gene Cernan.
Included with this lot is a signed letter of authenticity from Gene Cernan on his personal letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that the Gemini IX sterling silver Fliteline Medal with gold color plating, further identified by the addition of the necklace chain loop at its top, was flown aboard Gemini IX June 3-6, 1966. I presented this medal to my sister as a special memento of my historic mission upon my return."
