    Description

    Gemini 9A Flown Gold-Plated Silver Fliteline Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Charlie Duke. This 25mm x 19mm shield-shaped sterling silver medal has the mission insignia on the front which depicts the Gemini spacecraft in rendezvous with an Agena Target Vehicle and a tethered astronaut forming the figure "9", all in front of a large Roman numeral "IX". The reverse gives the surnames of the crew, Cernan and Stafford, as well as the engraved dates of the mission, "June 3-6 1966". Excellent condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.

    Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on Duke's letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that this Gemini 9, gold over sterling, Fliteline Medal, is from my personal collection of space artifacts and has been in my possession since receiving it shortly after the mission. This medallion was the one of the first ones for me to collect as I had just been selected as an Astronaut in April 1966. This medal was flown aboard the Gemini 10 capsule that launched on June 3, 1966. As a member of the Astronaut Office, I was permitted to purchase a medal from all the missions."
