    Description

Gemini 9A Flown Gold-Plated Silver Fliteline Medallion on Pin Back with Signed LOA from Mission Pilot Gene Cernan. This 25mm x 19mm shield-shaped sterling silver medal has the mission insignia on the front which depicts the Gemini spacecraft in rendezvous with an Agena Target Vehicle and a tethered astronaut forming the figure "9", all in front of a large Roman numeral "IX". The reverse gives the surnames of the crew, Cernan and Stafford, as well as the engraved dates of the mission, "June 3-6 1966". Hallmarked "Sterling". The medallion is attached to a jewelry-quality pin back for wearing as a brooch. Light wear, otherwise excellent. From the collection of Dolores A. Riley, sister of Gene Cernan.

Included with this lot is a signed letter of authenticity from Gene Cernan on his personal letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that the Gemini IX sterling silver Fliteline Medal with gold color plating, further identified by the pin back assembly on its reverse, was flown aboard Gemini IX June 3-6, 1966. It has been a part of my personal collection since the mission."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
