Description

Gemini 6A and Gemini 7 Rendezvous Large Color Photo Signed by Walt Cunningham and Originally from His Personal Collection. A 19.5" x 15.5" photo on heavy and stiff stock of Gemini 7 taken from Gemini 6A while in orbit, signed in silver ink at top left: "First rendezvous in space/ Gemini 6 and Gemini 7/ December '65/ Walt Cunningham/ LMP Apollo 7". This was the first-ever rendezvous in space between two manned craft; they closed in to within one foot of one other. Gemini 6A was manned by Walter Schirra and Tom Stafford; Gemini 7's crew was Frank Borman and James Lovell whose mission lasted nearly fourteen days, a record that would stand for five years. Three of these four crewmembers signatures could possibly be added at shows or private signings. Full caption on verso. Part of a group of photos presented to Cunningham personally by Victor Hasselblad in 1972 during a special ceremony in Stockholm. Tiny holes at top corners for hanging, a tiny bit of damage at lower left corner, otherwise excellent.
