Photos taken on the first manned Gemini mission.Gemini 3: Five Glass Slides, First Generation Duplicates from Film Flown on the Mission, Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Pilot John Young, Signed and Certified. Still in the original Kodak "Lantern Slide Cover Glass" box, offered here are five rare positive images, 4" x 3.25", from America's first two-man space mission. Young has signed on the front of the box: "My GT-3/ Slides/ John Young". Written on the back is: "S-65-18737/ thru/ S-65-18741/ GT-3/ 5 of 25 Views". Very fine condition overall, the front glass on slide #39 is cracked, easily replaced.
On Gemini 3, photography was not one of the scientific objectives, but the crew of Gus Grissom and John Young did take twenty-five photos during their three orbit flight. The equipment used was a modified Hasselblad 500C camera with an 80mm Zeiss Planar F/2.8 lens; their film was Ektachrome MS. A rare opportunity.
