DescriptionGemini 12 Flown Gold-Colored Fliteline Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander James Lovell. This 25mm medal flew aboard Gemini 12 with crewmembers James Lovell and Buzz Aldrin, November 11-15, 1966. It features the mission insignia on the obverse with the Roman numeral "XII" at the twelve o'clock position and the Gemini capsule positioned like a clock's hour hand. This was the final Gemini flight and the crescent moon at left symbolizes the ultimate goal of the space program. The surnames of the astronauts are also on the obverse with the dates of the mission engraved on the reverse. This medal was presented to Joe Garino, NASA's Physical Conditioning Supervisor for the astronauts, shortly after the mission by Lovell. Excellent condition. From the Steven R. Included with this lot is a signed Certificate of Authenticity from Garino stating, in part: "Presented to Joe Garino by James Lovell. I hereby certify that the item or items described above were personally obtained by me during my years of association with the American space exploration program."
