DescriptionGemini 12 Flown Gold-Colored Fliteline Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Jerry Carr, with LOA. This 25mm medal flew aboard Gemini 12 with crewmembers James Lovell and Buzz Aldrin, November 11-15, 1966. It features the mission insignia on the obverse with the Roman numeral "XII" at the twelve o'clock position and the Gemini capsule positioned like a clock's hour hand. This was the final Gemini flight and the crescent moon at left symbolizes the ultimate goal of the space program. The surnames of the astronauts are also on the obverse. "Gemini Twelve" is struck on the reverse along with the engraved dates of the mission. Enclosed in a bezel with jump ring for suspension from a necklace or bracelet. Light wear.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authentication from Carr on his personal letterhead stating, in full: "This commemorative medallion was flown aboard Gemini XII by its crew, James Lovell and Buzz Aldrin. It was made available to me by the crew and has been the property of the Carr family collection ever since."
