DescriptionGemini 12 Flown Fliteline Gold-Colored Medallion from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Pilot James Lovell. This 25mm brass medal has the mission insignia on the obverse with the Roman numeral "XII" at the twelve o'clock position and the Gemini capsule positioned like a clock's hour hand. This was the final Gemini flight and the crescent moon at left symbolizing the ultimate goal of the space program. The surnames of Command Pilot James Lovell and Pilot Buzz Aldrin are also on the obverse with the November 1966 dates of the mission engraved on the reverse. This flown medallion is in what is likely the original plastic case. Excellent condition.
This lot includes a signed Letter of Authenticity from Lovell on his letterhead stating: "I hereby certify that this Fliteline Silver Colored Medallion was flown with me aboard my Gemini 12 mission in November, 1966. This medal is from my personal collection of space artifacts and has been in my possession since the mission."

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.View More Testimonials
