    Description

Gemini 12 Flown Computer Failure Cards Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander James Lovell, Signed, with Signed LOA. Three tabbed heavyweight cards, 3.75" x 7.875" overall, bound by a single binder ring. The first is titled "Computer Failure", the second "Platform Failure", and the third "Radar Failure". These were used by Lovell and Aldrin during the mission, November 11-15, 1966, when a rendezvous radar failed. They were forced to manually rendezvous and dock with the Agena Target Vehicle using the onboard computer and these "Failure" cards. An important flown relic from the last of the Gemini two-man spaceflight, a mission that tested and performed procedures that would be necessary to successfully send a crew to the moon. Signed at top: "Gemini 12/ James Lovell". Excellent condition.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Lovell on his company letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that these Computer Failure Cards were instrumental in completing the rendezvous after the rendezvous radar failure on my Gemini XII mission in November, 1966. These cards are from my personal collection of space artifacts and have been in my possession since the mission."
