    Description

Gemini 11 Flown MS62 NGC Gilt over Silver Fliteline Medallion Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Commander Charles Conrad, with His Signed Certificate of Authenticity. This 21mm x 29mm shield-shaped gold-colored sterling silver medal was flown aboard Gemini 11 with crewmembers Pete Conrad and Richard Gordon between September 12 and 15, 1966. The design includes the Roman numeral "XI," the Agena target vehicle, the orbital apogee path, and a spacewalking astronaut. On the reverse, above the sterling hallmark, is vertically engraved the mission and its dates. A handsome Uncirculated medal.

Included with this lot is a signed COA from Conrad on his notecard reading, in full: "This gold-plated sterling silver Gemini XI medallion flew in space from September 12 to 15, 1966. I was mission commander and fellow astronaut Richard Gordon was pilot. Our flight accomplished a rendezvous with an Agena target vehicle in less than one orbit of the earth. After docking, we used the Agena's large rocket engine to set a world altitude record of 850 miles. The medallion is from my personal collection."
