    West Point Dilpoma.

Ed White II: United States Military Academy Bachelor of Science Diploma from his Personal Collection. Offered here is the original diploma received White upon his graduation from West Point on June 3, 1952 (exactly thirteen years before the launch of Gemini 4), 17.5" x 23.5" (sight size). Framed (original) to an overall 20.5" x 26.5". It reads, in part: "Be it known that Cadet Edward Higgins White, 2nd of the State of Oklahoma having been carefully examined... has been judged worthy to receive the Degree of Bachelor of Science... Given at West Point on the State of New York, this third day of June in the Year of our Lord One Thousand nine hundred and fifty-two (1952)." Signed at the bottom by Superintendent Frederick A Irving, Commandant of Cadets John K. Waters, and Dean of the Academic Board Harris Jones. It is interesting to note that White was sponsored by a congressman from Oklahoma (as noted on the diploma). Since he lived in Washington, D.C., where he graduated from Western High School, he didn't have a local congressman to sponsor him. In order to enter West Point where his father and uncle had attended, he had to literally walk the halls of the congressional offices on Capitol Hill in order to get sponsored. Ross Rizley from Oklahoma's eighth district agreed to do just that based on his excellent qualifications and references. Rarely offered. Some light toning and minor crinkling at bottom. Fine condition.
