    Description

Ed White II: Collection of Original NASA Glossy Photos from His Personal Collection. A vintage three ring binder labeled by White on the spine as to contents; it contains thirty 8" x 10" B&W and color photos, telling the story of his early training as one of the second group of astronauts chosen. In the front is a table of contents titled "Volume 2" handwritten by White listing eight topics including: "Harm Bunning Re-Entry Course", "Zero 'G'", "Cape Party after Conrad's flight", "Desert Survival", and "Meeting Jimmy Stewart". A great inside peek at what these astronauts went through in preparation for their missions. Particularly interesting shots of Neil Armstrong, Jim McDivitt, and White participating in weightless flight training. Rare images. Excellent condition.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
