    Buzz Aldrin: U.S. Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster) Citation and Award Document Originally from His Personal Collection. A high honor given to members of the U.S. Armed Forces as authorized by an Act of Congress July 2, 1926. The citation is on a single page of 8" x 10.5" with an Air Force Seal affixed. It reads, in part: "Lieutenant Colonel Edwin E. Aldrin, Jr., distinguished himself by extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an Astronaut with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, from 11 November 1966 to 15 November 1966. During this period, he served as Pilot on spacecraft Gemini-Titan 12, completing 59 revolutions of the earth in an elapsed time of 94 hours and 34 minutes. During this mission, he logged more extra-vehicular activity time that any other man... The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Colonel Aldrin reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force." The award document is a certificate of 12" x 10" with an image of the medal (not present) at top and signed in facsimile by John P. McConnell as Air Force Chief of Staff and by Harold Brown as Secretary of the Air Force. It awards Aldrin "The Distinguished Flying Cross (First Oak Leaf Cluster)" and is dated March 6, 1967. An amazing lot that will appeal to both space and militaria collectors. Both are in excellent condition and enclosed in a custom slipcase.
