DescriptionApollo-Soyuz Test Project Flown Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Vance Brand. A 4.125" diameter patch flown on this international flight that signaled the end of the U.S./U.S.S.R. space race. This last-ever Apollo mission carried a crew of three, Brand, Stafford, and Slayton, July 15-24, 1975, to dock with a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft carrying two cosmonauts, Leonov and Kubasov. This would be the last American manned spaceflight for nearly six years. Excellent condition.
Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity from Kevin Brand, son of astronaut Vance Brand; it reads: "I, Kevin S. Brand, was given this Flown Apollo/Soyuz mission patch by my father Vance D. Brand. This Apollo/Soyuz patch was part of a presentation of 4 flown patches given to me by my father, representing each of his missions (Apollo/Soyuz, STS-5. STS-41-B, and STS-35)."
