ASTP official world records documentation, one of only two bound as such from an edition of eight

Apollo-Soyuz Test Project: "File on Absolute World and World Records of the World's First Joint Flight of the Soyuz (USSR) and Apollo (USA) Spacecraft on the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project ('K' and 'K-2' Classes)" Original Bound Volume Signed by Slayton, Kraft, Lunney, and More. "July 15-19, 1975". Published at Moscow in 1975. This 9" x 12.5" book is bound in light blue leatherette with gilt titles in Russian and English. This is the official claim for various absolute world and world records as submitted to the Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI), the French agency responsible for tracking aeronautical and astronautical records. Inside is full documentation in both Russian and English for absolute world records regarding a joint experimental flight of the spacecraft of two countries-USSR and USA including: total duration of flight in a docked mode; total range flight in a docked mode; total mass of docked spacecraft; and maximum flight altitude for the spacecraft in a docked mode as well as world records in the class of formation flights: total duration of the formation flight and total range of the formation flight. These are all signed by official representatives of each country: Ivan G. Borisenko, Sports Commissar for the U.S.S. R. and Carl R. Huss, Steward of U.S.A. National Aeronautical Association. Also included are thirty-one original B&W glossy photos, each laid down to a separate page, showing all aspects of the mission including the signing of the Magna Carta (see previous lot). This is a rare and very important document related to this landmark cooperative mission between the U.S. and the Soviet Union, a virtual library of important technical data and rarely seen photographs. Fine.

The free front endpaper is signed by nine important U.S. space luminaries: Bob Brecker, Trajectory Specialist; Ken Young, Flight Planner; D. K. Slayton, astronaut and member of the ASTP crew; Glynn S Lunney, Flight Director; Pete Frank, Co-Chair of the ASTP Mission Planning Team; Chris Kraft, Flight Director; Sig Sjoberg, Deputy Director of the JSC; Kenneth S Kleinknecht, Director of Flight Operations; and Carl R Huss, NAA Steward.
