Apollo Medals (Four) from the Gene Cernan Family Collection. Four excellent and scarce medals, as follows.
Apollo 11: A heavy, high-relief 64mm diameter x 5mm thick bronze medal. The obverse pictures an astronaut walking on the moon with the command module orbiting above; the reverse pictures the Saturn launch vehicle, the crew surnames, and "Apollo XI". Maker unknown, however the design is identical to a smaller medal issued by Rockwell.
    Apollo 11:
A flat 64mm diameter stainless steel medallion issued by NASA. On the obverse is the Apollo Program logo and the text: "Lunar Landing/ Apollo/ NASA/ July 1969". On the reverse are the facsimile signatures of the crew and the statement: "The Die for this Medallion was Carried to the Moon and Back by the Crew of Apollo 11 in 1969." There were reportedly only 1000 of these minted for top-level NASA personnel, quite rare. Only the second example Heritage has offered.
Apollo 13: A 38mm bronze medal by Franklin Mint, part of a limited edition of less than 2500. A beautiful design with the mission insignia on the obverse. Original container included.
Apollo 14: A matching 38mm bronze medal by Franklin Mint, one of an edition of 2275. Obverse features the mission insignia. Original container included.
All are excellent and would make interesting additions to any space medal collection.
