Apollo-Era KSC Hard Hat Worn by and Directly from the Personal Collection of Astronaut Jack Lousma, with Signed LOA. A "Hard Boiled" brand glass-fiber safety hat, made by the E. D. Bullard Company, with original size-adjustment rig inside. On either side of the hat are colorful "Saturn Apollo Manned Flight" decals, 2.25" x 2.625". "Astronaut/ Jack Lousma" is stenciled on the front above the bill. This type of hat was required when working in certain areas of the Kennedy Space Center. Nice display item. Very fine.

Included with this lot is a signed Letter of Authenticity on his letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify this safety hardhat, stenciled with "Astronaut Jack Lousma" on the front, was worn by me at the NASA Kennedy Space Center (KSC) during missions of Apollo and Skylab. The white hardhat has a red and blue "Saturn/ Apollo Manned Flight" decal on both sides. Hardhats were required headgear when working at the Vertical Assembly Building (VAB) and at the Launch Pad. I wore this hardhat when working in the VAB and at the Launch Pad on Lunar Module Test & Checkout for Apollos 9 and 10, and for Test & Checkout of the Command & Service Module for Skylab II. This safety hardhat has been in my possession since the above noted flights."
