    Description

Apollo 9 Lunar Module Flown Extremely Large Kapton Foil Remnant Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart, with Signed Letter of Certification. An odd-shaped section, approximately 10" x 6.5" overall of gold-colored Kapton insulation foil. This was removed from the Lunar Module Spider, the first LM to fly manned and, as such, is very desirable. Especially rare in this large size. Obviously used in flight, but otherwise very fine.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Rusty Schweickart on his personal letterhead.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
