    Description

"In addition to my Pressure Suit being worn during launch and landing, the suit was also worn in the lunar module during its first flight and on my EVA"

Apollo 9 Flown Pressure Suit Patch Set (Four) Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Rusty Schweickart, Signed and Certified, with Letter of Certification. The four actual Beta cloth patches excised from Schweickart's pressure suit and neatly stitched around, as used on the March 3-13, 1969, mission, as follows: a 6.5" x 4.5" American flag; a 3.75" overall NASA "meatball" vector patch neatly sewn in a pentangular shape; a 3" Apollo 9 mission insignia sewn to a hexagonal shape; and his 4" x 1" "SCHWEICKART" name tag. These are all enclosed in the sealed plastic bag just as he received them. He has signed the bag boldly in black felt tip: "Flown on my Pressure/ Suit during Apollo 9/ EVA/ Rusty Schweickart/ LMP". An incredible opportunity as these highly-prized relics rarely appear at auction. Very fine.

Included with this lot is a Letter of Certification signed by Rusty Schweickart on his personal letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby confirm and certify that the accompanying four patches (NASA Meatball, Apollo 9 mission, Schweickart name and U.S. flag) that are sealed within their plastic envelope and certified by me on its reverse, were worn on my Pressure Suit during the Apollo 9 mission in 1969. In addition to my Pressure Suit being worn during launch and landing, the suit was also worn in the lunar module during its first flight and on my EVA, the first time the new A7L Apollo suit had been worn EVA."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
