A Beta cloth wrapped electrical connector, 2.75" long x 1" diameter, with attached insulated copper wire bearing the part number L175D20BLK. It is attached to a 9" x 6" x 1" wooden plaque with an engraved metal plate reading: "These Items Flown on Apollo IX/ March 3-13, 1969/ Presented to Fred Haise". On the verso, Haise has signed in blue felt tip: "From My Personal Collection/ Fred Haise/ Apollo 9 Support Crew/ Apollo 13 LMP". Excellent.

Included with this lot are two color photos, one of Fred Haise, the other of Rusty Schweickart, each holding this plaque. Also, a signed Letter of Authenticity from Fred Haise on his letterhead reading, in full: "Accompanying this letter is a wood plaque displaying a flown electrical component covered in beta cloth from the flight of Apollo 9. The plaque has an engraved plaque which reads These items flown on Apollo IX, March 3-13,1969. Presented to: Fred Haise. The back of the plaque is covered with green felt and I have inscribed it from my personal collection of NASA memorabilia. Apollo 9 was the first manned flight of the Lunar Module. The crew of Jim McDivitt, Dave Scott and Rusty Schweickart tested many of the critical aspects necessary to land man on the moon such as docking maneuvers, navigation systems, spacesuit/backpack abilities and the LM's engine. Astronauts were often assigned to support crew and backup crew duties before being assigned to the prime crew of a flight. I was a member of the Apollo 9 support crew along with Jack Lousma, Ed Mitchell and Al Worden and was given this plaque from the crew upon their return. This Bendix electrical connector has been in my personal space artifact collection since 1969 which is now 40 years after the flight of Apollo 9."

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
